Zoo Programs

Schedule a Docent Presentation

You can call the Zoo Office at 620-341-4365, email Zoo Education, or write and request an event.

Presentations can be in the Zoo, in the Zoo Education Center at 75 Soden Road, in your school, or at a meeting place.

We ask that groups visiting the zoo have one adult accompany every 10 to 12 children.

Available Programs

Programs available at this time include:

  • One-hour tour for 1st grade and older
  • Provide small touchable animals and biofacts before or after a teacher-led tour
  • Support a teacher-led lesson with small animals, biofacts and information
  • Present a 30- to 45-minute lesson on any of the following: owls, snakes and reptiles, turtles and tortoises, classifying animals, endangered species, Kansas state animals, animal coverings
  • Suitcase for Survival
  • Zoo tours for all ages
  • Care home visits

We also host:

  • Docent in the Zoo
  • "Kidzoocation," a one-hour program for 4- to 7-year-old children
  • Safari "Edventure" Day
  • Zoo Camp, a week long camp for children who have completed 3rd or 4th grade
  • Spring Forward for Amphibians 
  • Party for the Planet
  • And more!
