Kansas Traffic Laws and Cycling

Motorists and cyclists must obey all traffic laws.

  • Ride to the right, with traffic.
  • Obey all traffic signs and signals.
  • Pedestrians have the right of way.
  • It is illegal to ride on sidewalks.
  • Be cautious at intersections.
  • Do not ride more than two abreast in a lane.
  • At night, cyclists must use at least a white headlight and rear red reflector.
  • Stop within fifteen feet of railroad crossings.
  • Look for motorists before making turns.
  • Ride in designated bike lanes when present.
